The ball went for four, but all Aussie players immediately looked concerned for the number three batsman.

At this form India is the world ' s best team and no one can defeat this team ..this Indian team reminds me one of the best balanced Indian team after a long time since 2011 world I think team will feature: S. Marsh, Usman Khawaja , Lynn, Maxwell, Watson , Wade, Faulkner, Tait, Tye, Hastings, Lyon .

Shane Watson has declared Sydney Thunder teammate Usman Khawaja one of the best batsman in the world and says he's been burdened by pressure and doubt throughout his national career.

Just as he did two years ago, Khawaja looks capable of single-handedly carrying the Thunder to the Big Bash League title.

After his game-winning 85 in Thursday night's win over reigning champions the Perth Scorchers, the classy left-hander is in devastating form.

Just as he did during the Thunder's title-winning season in 2015-16, Khawaja has returned from national duties in ominous touch.

Sydney Thunder keep Big Bash season alive with win over Melbourne Stars

Sydney Thunder keep Big Bash season alive with win over Melbourne Stars The Sydney Thunder's Big Bash season is still alive after a huge win over the Melbourne Stars at the MCG.A top-four finish is all of a sudden back on the table after Saturday's crushing seven-wicket win over the struggling Melbourne Stars, set up by a controversial dropped catch from Jackson Coleman that allowed captain Shane Watson to take control of the run chase.

Khawaja needs to come in not only to the T20 world cup squad but the final 11 as a top 4 batsman. Hence the missed chances against Australia (the run out too) don't count :) Just look at how the Aussie commentators are calling Usman as one of the best bat in the world right now, LOL!

Wide World of Sports - 04 Jan 2018 Usman Khawaja has avoided serious injury from a fielding mishap late on the opening day of the fifth Ashes Test. He' s obviously got the runs on the ball to get selected so we ' ll see the best of him next innings and moving onto Sydney.”

He has hit 50s in each of his past five BBL innings, the first player to do so.

Thunder skipper and former Australian allrounder Watson said Khawaja was playing like a man unburdened by over-thinking or speculation about his future.

"I"m just thrilled for Uz, to see him play with that much freedom. It just shows he's one of the best batsmen in the world - not just in Australia," Watson said.

England's Crane endures horror Test debut

England's Crane endures horror Test debut Mason Crane has returned the worst bowling figures by an Englishman on debut, returning figures of 1-193 in Australia's first innings in the fifth Ashes Test.On an SCG pitch that favoured spin, the rookie legspinner went for 1-193 during Australia's first innings of the fifth Ashes Test.

While Shane Watson , then Warner, basically bullied balls to the boundary, Khawaja caressed through cover point and midwicket. Usman Khawaja is a legend, he is a world class player in all formats and this is a very well written piece on him.

Usman Khawaja expects to be squeezed out of Australia' s XI for their World Twenty20 opener against New Zealand on March 18. Khawaja added the competition for places in the XI was healthy and he got on well with both Finch and Watson .

"To dismantle a high-quality bowling attack like he did (against the Scorchers) is incredible.

"From my perspective, it just comes down to the freedom he has when he plays for the Thunder and he's not getting extra scrutiny at that next level around whether he's going to play, whether he's in the team, whether he's not in the team.

"It's a different mentality and it's sad to see when the pressure can engulf someone that much.

"It does. It happened to me a lot."

Khawaja is in rare touch after hitting 171 in the final Ashes Test but was overlooked for the Australian ODI squad to take on England.

The Thunder go into Saturday's derby with the Sydney Sixers a win outside the top four, but Khawaja could be the ace up their sleeve in the back half of the season.

Watson said Khawaja was a different player when he pulled on a Thunder shirt.

"There's a calmness and confidence and it's very different," Watson said.

"There's no doubt. I know from my experience that when there's talk about people getting dropped or whether you're playing sub-continent or whether you're playing Australia, whatever it is, it puts more pressure on you knowing that if you make a mistake, your dream of playing for Australia is gone."

Khawaja-inspired Thunder survive Scorchers fightback .
Usman Khawaja's return to the Big Bash League inspired Sydney Thunder to a much-needed victory over Perth Scorchers, as Cameron Bancroft and Hilton Cartwright's daring counterattack fell short. Reigning champions Perth had been unbeaten this season until they lost to Brisbane Heat last week. And while the Scorchers responded by seeing off Melbourne Renegades at the Furnace, they came up short on the road again on Thursday, as Khawaja (85) helped the hosts to 4-175 batting first.Mitchell Johnson (0-25) fell flat with the ball and then Perth openers William Bosisto (9) and Michael Klinger (4) both failed.
